"A Doula is a trained companion who is not a healthcare professional and who supports another person through a significant health-related experience." —Wikipedia
An end-of-life doula is a non-medical, non-clinical role, providing assistance, education, guidance, and support for those at the end of their life; those with a life-limiting illness and their families, friends, and those close to them.
An end-of-life doula can help to keep their client feel safe and comfortable, provide guidance and support, and complement the role/work of health care professionals. By serving as a personal advocate and supporter for the ageing and dying (and those close to them), I help to maintain control, capacity, and choice in life for as long as possible.
